I am a “late bloomer” artist. Painting was something I had always wanted to try. When I retired 6 years ago after many years of working as a registered nurse and hospice director, I enrolled in Steve Close’s class at LaGrange Art Museum. I paint in acrylics on canvas.
I found during my career that being creative or seeing the creativity of others was a good way to renew my spirit. Joy came as I sewed intricate costumes for our dancer daughter and watched our architect daughter design. Art has now become a meditative and relaxing part of my life. My hope is that the viewer of my work will somehow experience the happiness I felt as I painted.
